Presentation

Our PhD in Mathematics is a programme designed to train highly qualified professionals with advanced skills in mathematical models and methods applicable to pure and interdisciplinary applications. PhD graduates will be fully employable by universities, research institutes, industry, public administration and independent commercial enterprises.

From 2013 the course has been jointly run by the Mathematics and Computer Science Departments of the Universities of Ferrara and Parma, and the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia Department of Physics Mathematics and Computer Science. The PhD programme is delivered by 60 academic associates, actively involved in a broad spectrum of research activities from Mathematics to Computer Science.

The examining board are internationally renowned professors, and the programme is designed to develop an advanced understanding of the basic fields of Mathematics, and a thorough understanding of one major field of interest. Collaboration with domestic and foreign research institutions (universities and potentially companies) are paramount to achievement of these goals, and our PhD students will have ample opportunity to spend periods of study and research therein.
