Motivated by the problem of the optimal reinforcement of an elastic membrane, we investigate the dependence of the optimal constants in Poincaré-Sobolev inequalities on the region where the Dirichlet condition is imposed. More precisely, we look for the best shape and location of the Dirichlet regions which optimize these constants. According to the homogeneity of the problem, different situations occur and several questions remain open.
